about

The self-titled debut from Columbia, MO’s Tim Pilcher and Monica Lord is a bright and instinctive collection of instrumental pieces for acoustic steel string guitar and cello. Both alluvial and enchanting, the music here considers the magic of our terrestrial world from the ground up. Delicately combing the forest floor for the first floral shoots of spring, wading in rambling streams and breathing in deeply the space so full of damp air between all things - the album exudes a joyful spirit of experiential and self-directed ecological discovery.
Relying more on feeling than intellect and discovery more than composition, the pair offer up a lilting suite of Celtic styled folk, baroque classicism and rhythmic American roots music where Pilcher’s masterful finger picking is easy, lyrical and melodic while Lords deep resonant cello tones acts as a gravitational pull keeping the interplanetary tracks in cyclical motion.

"The whole thing goes by too fast, like a vacation you wish would go on forever, or streaks of color across the sky that fade or change with time. Fortunately, Pilcher and Lord have left us with more than just a few snapshots or sensory memories. By recording the journey, they have ensured that we can run away with them again whenever we like."
